Sam’s Club shelf displays need to be both neat and durable enough for shipping. Today, we’re breaking down the Trays with Dividers guide—perfect for weight-sensitive bagged or individually packaged products!
1. Applicable Products
These two tray styles are designed for lightweight items that can’t support weight:
- Low Tray (Short Tray + Tall Dividers): Ideal for individually packaged foods like bagged bacon

- Full Layer Tray (Full-Layer Tray + Corner Supports): Great for crushable goods like chips and bagged snacks

2. Core Requirements
Regardless of the tray type, these rules apply:
1. Display & Dimensions:
- Minimum 3-side shoppable for customers
- Maximum unit height (including pallet) ≤ 52 inches; no overhang beyond the pallet
- Minimum unit footprint: 45” × 37”; tray lip height ≥ 3 inches
2. Packaging Rules:
- No taped or stapled tray corners allowed
- Selling units and secondary packaging must meet or exceed ISTA-6-SAMSCUB transit testing standards (shock/pressure resistance)
- No false bottoms
3. Shipping Protection:
- Top shipping caps or top sheets are required to protect the top layer during transit
3. Extra Best Practices (Bonus Tips)
For Full Layer Trays, consider these optimizations:
- Use reinforced front lip designs to boost durability during transit and in-club shopping
- Divider systems should protect tray lips from breaking during transit and in-club use
- The structure should support an additional layer of product (Sam’s Club will stack the final display layer on top of new displays during replenishment)
